IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
Notice of PRODUCT MODIFICATIONS REQUIRED
To: Owners of the following Crown Aruba IV models above 2000 ft:
It has come to our attention that under certain circumstances the above boilers installed above 2000 ft. altitude could fail to shut off if the vent system is blocked resulting in the emission of products of combustion into the space around the boiler and a carbon monoxide poisoning or asphyxiation hazard. Although no incidents or issues have been reported, it is important that these units receive a field modification as soon as available.
How do I know if my is included in this field action?
• Models AWR280BNST3P8U and AWR280ENST2P8U installed below 7000 ft. ARE NOT included in this field action.
• All other models installed above 2000 ft, as well as AWR280BNST3P8U and AWR280ENST2P8U installed above 7000 ft ARE part of this field action and will require modification with a repair kit.
Can I continue to use my boiler?
Homeowners may continue to use all of the above listed boilers as normal. Homeowners should pursue modification with the altitude kit if their boiler is part of this field action. Crown Boiler recommends that every home have CO (carbon monoxide) alarms installed and operating regardless of altitude or coverage under this recall.
Has the CPSC (Consumer Products Safety Commission) been notified of this issue?
Yes. Out of an abundance of caution and with customer safety as top priority, we are notifying CPSC of this issue.
What has to be done to my boiler?
