Congratulations to Bob Morak on 25 Years with Crown Boiler!

Bob Morak

You may recognize him from his starring role in our AWR Handling Instructions video, or know his voice from a call to the Crown Boiler technical support line. What you might not know is that Bob Morak recently celebrated 25 years at Crown Boiler. In honor of this milestone, we took some time to have a little Q&A with Bob.

1. When did you get your start at Crown Boiler?

I started with Crown Industries in 1989, the name was changed to Crown Boiler a little later.

2. How did you get into Crown Boiler and the heating industry in general?

I actually started in the heating industry with F.P. Young Oil Co. in Philadelphia, PA around 1980. They had an in-depth training program, and Frank Young was a leader in supplying his men with the best training the industry had to offer. I love what we do, and learned that in the heating industry there is something new all the time. Then I met Larry Steingard, the then-owner of Crown, and he gave me a chance to come to Crown and grow with them. So we learned and grew, and still do to this day.

3. What are the biggest changes you’ve seen over your time at Crown?

Well, as the heating industry has developed, the best thing I have seen change is the safety system on heating systems. At one time there were no safeties on boilers. Now we have several making the systems better and safer for everyone. The next big change is efficiency of heaters. AFUEs are higher and that saves people a lot of money in operating costs.

4. What are some things you enjoy doing outside of the office?

My hobbies and interests have changed over my time at Crown as well. I was into motorcycles for quite some time, riding though the Blue Mountains of North Carolina and Virginia was a highlight. My wife and I did many of the Toys for Tots runs down Broad Street in Philly. My next hobby was coaching softball and baseball. I have three kids and was able to coach them all. One of my favorite coaching moments was making the ASA National in Fresno, California. It was a great experience.

5. You’ve got the microphone. Anything you’d like to say to the world?

Yes, don’t stop learning. Education is the best thing to take you to the next level, and to make things easier for yourself.

Congratulations on 25 years, Bob!
